Ghost Ranch sunset
The full moon rises opposite the setting sun.
Fixate on one, miss the other.
Thanks to Mark Nohl for early and late light in New Mexico, the Ghost Ranch, and angles of repose.

Maine rockface
The rock here in Maine is schist — sedimentary rock that's been heated, transformed and folded deep in the earth.
High and dry now, it's weathered almost smooth by the pounding of high tides and storms, but its big grains are still pretty prickly to walk barefoot on.
